NorthEast Gun Shows and Westchester Collectors announced a two-day firearm and knife show/sale at the County Center for Jan. 21-22, the weekend after Inauguration Day. More details can be found by clicking here.

After a gunman murdered 20 children and six teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in November 2012, County Executive Rob Astorino canceled a show scheduled for February 2013 at County Center. There hasn't been one since.

More than 3,600 people have signed this petition calling for a ban on Westchester gun shows.

For sale at January's 350-table show will be modern, antique and collectible firearms, ammunition, handguns, knives, military-style weapons, books and gun-related memorabilia.

"The gun show is being scheduled for the day after the Trump Presidential inauguration -- a step backward for the county of Westchester," Paul Feiner, town supervisor of Greenburgh wrote in an email to residents.  "I do not feel that it is appropriate for the government to be promoting the sale of guns - especially in a government-owned building. If people want to purchase guns they should purchase the guns from reputable dealers at privately owned gun shops."

Democrats on the Westchester County Board of Legislators last year proposed a law that would ban gun shows in county facilities.

Feiner called Monday for the county to reinstate the ban on firearms and gun shows in county facilities and said he plans to write Astorino  "Wonder if there are liability issues for the county if someone purchases a gun at the county office building and shoots someone negligently or intentionally?" Feiner added.
